A Guide to Staying Organized Even When You're Not!
Being organized has a lot to do with discipline and consistency.
- Choose your organization tool. (Paper, Digital, or both) and use them consistently.
- Prioritize. Remember, you can't do it all at once.
- Master your to-do list by prioritizing. Pick the most important task to work on or choose one area to focus on.
- Clear out the physical clutter and manage your space. It's proven that when your space has less clutter, your brain will work better. Think about a time when you walked through a beautiful model home. You feel the excitement and the possibilities of living in that space, and yes, you think about all the things you can accomplish if you lived there. Start with one room or area at a time. You got this!
- What does it mean to Organize your space? It means letting go of the things that no longer serve a purpose in your life so that you can make room for what's most important to you.
- Organizing means that everything has a home and can easily be found, accessed, used, and put back.
- Why it matters? Everything in life requires organization and planning. Being in a good head space can make a significant difference.
- Be consistent. Change requires change.
- Take control of your time and priorities. Delegate some of your tasks to people you trust. Enlist your kids with age-appropriate chores, hire a housekeeper once a month, have the local supermarket do the shopping for you where all you have to do is pick it up. When you have fewer tasks to complete yourself, the likelihood of you being more organized increases.
- Review and check your progress often. If you fall behind, it's ok; just pick up where you left off.
